Robin Siegl

Robin Siegl makes oil paintings inspired by the industrial waterfront as she sees it on regular and frequent trips in her 14' rowboat. The Duwamish River, the Ballard ship canal and parts of Lake Union are her favorite places to investigate the enormous bulk of ships and barges. The wiggly water on which they float reflects marked-up, heavily worn surfaces and massive shapes, providing endless ideas for paintings. Robin strives to convey the beauty in this subject, one not often thought of as beautiful. Her powerful images emphasize the inevitable stages of decay. This exhibit features new paintings on heavy square paper, some exploring a favorite subject: the thin, bright line of light between two adjoining barges.
